Romain Cariou studied physics at ENS Cachan and Pierre-and-Marie-Curie University, and received his master’s degree in applied physics from Ecole Centrale Paris, in 2010. He completed a Ph.D. degree in 2014 on low temperature epitaxial growth of Si & Ge materials at Ecole Polytechnique (Palaiseau, France). In 2015, he joined the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems (Freiburg, Germany), with a Marie Curie research project focusing on III–V/Si multi-junction cells. Since 2017, he has moved to CEA as a research scientist, leading industrial and academic research programs on materials, cells and arrays for space PV applications.
